However, additional and quick actions are needed. These actions will stimulate more RES use in the power, heating and cooling, and transport sectors, says the report on \u201c2020 Renewable Energy Target Realisation Forecast for Poland\u201d, prepared by Ecofys, a Navigant company, and the Technical University of Vienna. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The analysis proved that there are at least three scenarios to meet the 2020 RES target in Poland. Including more RES into the Polish power system would also facilitate the system modernisation.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Depending on the energy demand, with no additional measures, Poland can reach 10-13,8% RES share by 2020. The target is 15%. To meet the target, Poland should take additional measures as indicated in the report.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>&#8211; In our model <\/em><em>we proposed three scenarios of meeting the 2020 target, building on the existing regulatory framework. To meet the target, more auctions and higher auctions volumes are needed, bringing a variety of new power generation sources: ca. 6000-7000 GWh new wind power, 3000-4000 GWh biomass, min. 1 000 GWh PV, 350-440 GWh biogas and 300-500 GWh other RES \u2013 <\/em>said Iza Kielichowska, Managing Consultant at Ecofys.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Poland exhibits tremendous RES potential and many projects in the pipeline. Establishing of conditions to implement these projects would not only facilitate the achievement of the RES target, but also stimulate economic growth at a local level.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>\u00a0&#8211; <\/em><em>Currently Poland exhibits approximately 5 800 MW of wind installed capacity. The turbines continuously produce electricity without polluting the atmosphere and provide hundreds of million zlotys of tax revenues for the communes\u2019 and state budget. We still face the opportunity to increase both installed capacity and the ensuing benefits. This is crucial, as the deadline for the settlement of the so-called RES target is inevitably coming.
