The first students from the Maritime School Complex in Darłowo started their training under the “Get Into Wind and Work High!” project. This is the first such training project in Poland, initiated by Vulcan Training & Consultancy and Polish Wind Energy Association. It will enable Maritime School Complex graduates to obtain free certificates enabling them to work on wind turbines. The project, worth more than PLN 1 million, opens a new career path for young people in the most prospective wind energy industry. This is a response to increasing demand for new, highly trained employees in for the wind energy sector.

Rapid growth of the wind energy sector entails the need for new, highly trained employees, including wind turbine technicians and installers. Depending on development scenario, it is estimated that in the future onshore wind may contribute to the creation of as much as 97 thousand new jobs. Offshore will offer a further 100 thousand jobs in Poland.

“Get Into Wind and Work High!” is the first training project of this kind in Poland that will truly provide young people with tools required by jobs in the most prospective wind energy industry. Under the programme, Darłowo students will receive a full training package and obtain the necessary qualifications to work on wind turbines. The project, with a budget in excess of PLN 1 million, has been initiated by Vulcan Training & Consultancy and Polish Wind Energy Association.

“Students that complete the training will obtain the highly-valued Global Wind Organisation certificates confirming their competences, whose market value is almost PLN 20,000 per person. Our project is the first and only such initiative in Poland, aimed at opening new career paths for young people and providing them with a good start on labour market,” emphasized Artur Ambrożewicz, President of the Management Board at Vulcan Training & Consultancy.

Market needs and attractive, well-paid jobs are the best motivation to train oneself in that trade.

“The labour market in the wind energy sector is gaining momentum. The wind energy industry is offering its employees perfect wages, continuous development opportunities and uninterrupted, long-term employment. Wind energy is a powerful industry. Electricity means money. Therefore, this is an option for a better future and a job full of prospects.The onshore wind farm construction and operation sector in Poland directly employs approximately 10 thousand; together with related sectors, the industry provides employment for some 20 thousand people,” said Janusz Gajowiecki, President of the Polish Wind Energy Association.

“Get Into Wind!” is the first programme of this kind opening new employment opportunities for young graduates of the Maritime School Complex in Darłowo. The project features two training packages of 3 and 5 days, covering 9 courses provided by Vulcan Training & Consultancy.
