Cezary Pazura, Paweł Orleański and Krzysztof Zalewski are the ambassadors of the national “Sail With the Wind” educational campaign. Together with Polish Wind Energy Association they will debunk myths and educate on benefits stemming from offshore and onshore wind energy development in Poland. Spots featuring the ambassadors will be published in the press and broadcast in the radio and TV from 15 June — the Global Wind Day. The campaign is co-financed by the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management.

Measures comprising the “Sail With the Wind” campaign include TV, radio, Internet, press, billboards, and cooperation with influencers.

The educational nature of the campaign will feature lectures at universities, events in seaside resorts, online expert debate or educational movies with Cezary Pazura, Paweł Orleański and Krzysztof Zalewski.

The “Sail With the Wind” campaign is a response to the plans for a dynamic growth of the wind energy sector in Poland, both in terms of onshore and offshore projects. Record-high public support for wind energy demonstrates how important renewable energy sources are today. However, the outlook of new wind farm investments requires promotion of knowledge about the technology and its impact on energy security and efficiency. Through the measures implemented with the NFEPWM’s support we want to demonstrate to Polish citizens how important, safe, and inexpensive is to produce electricity from wind. Notwithstanding common acceptance, disinformation and myths can still be encountered. This has to be explained once and for all,” Janusz Gajowiecki, President of the Polish Wind Energy Association explained.

The campaign will be promoted by well-known and well-liked artists, who want to use their popularity to promote noble goals. Though active in different areas, they are connected by their care for the environment and belief that we may stop the changes that jeopardize our planet in the future. Renewable energy sources are one of the responses to the current challenges related to climate change.

I believe we should fight the myth related to wind energy, for we have the future of next generations at stake. Currently, wind energy — offshore and onshore — is the response to the challenges we currently face, and a method to stop the climate disaster. This is the best method to reduce fossil fuel use, CO2 emissions and to ensure our security. I am very happy that my enthusiasts will have the opportunity to learn more about wind energy and the benefits for our country stemming from their development,” Krzysztof Zalewski, campaign ambassador, said.

The campaign involves a number of educational and information measures, including permanent communication in social media: on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and YouTube.

Scheduled cross-media actions include broadcast of a radio and TV spot, publication of banners on billboards and busses, and the use of Internet banners along with press publications.

Measures directly related to the educational nature of the campaign have also been scheduled: an expert debate, events in seaside resorts, university lectures, development of lesson scenarios and production of educational materials.

“Our message covers both onshore and offshore wind soon to be built in the Polish Baltic Sea areas. Offshore wind is a new sector that requires particular approach to awareness development. Education about perspectives and opportunities is crucial, for offshore in Poland means new jobs, new curricula, factories, installation, and service ports. We are aware that new often leads to distrust. Therefore, the campaign will show the true face of the industry and its role in developing a strong and independent economy,” Małgorzata Żmijewska-Kukiełka, PWEA Communications Manager, campaign coordinator, said.

Educational spots featuring Cezary Pazura, Paweł Orleański and Krzyszof Zalewski will be broadcast on TV and the Internet from 15 June — the Global Wind Day. The ambassadors will use simple words and specific examples to discuss facts and debunk myths still present in the public space.

Wind energy development is a way towards modernity, development, and benefits. Wind energy means following global trends resulting in economic growth, improvement in energy security and conditions of the environment, and improvement in quality of life of our citizens. This is due to lower electricity bills, cleaner air, and local investments. I have a feeling that development of renewable energy sources secures future generations and repays our debt to the planet that needs green energy,” Cezary Pazura, campaign ambassador, emphasized.

Measures related to the campaign will be carried out until the end of Q1/2024.
