The Polish Wind Energy Association and WindEurope organised a workshop for Polish Members of the European Parliament in Strasbourg.

The meeting was held on 18 December at the European Parliament in Strasbourg. The workshop included a discussion on just transition of the Polish economy and Europe’s path towards climate neutrality by 2050.
Janusz Gajowiecki, PWEA’s President, presented the technology breakthrough in wind power and the potential of the Polish market. Giles Dickson, CEO of WindEurope, spoke about the benefits from wind power development to the economy and the domestic supply chain.
The meeting was attended by Polish MEP from various political groups.

The Clean Energy package requires EU countries to take specific action. The EU aims at reaching a 32% share of RES in total energy consumption by 2030. New regional cooperation rules were also adopted with regard to implementation of energy and climate policy.

Poland is required to develop an energy strategy for the next decade. Its aim is to significantly reduce the share of fossil fuels in the Polish energy mix.

The transition towards low- and zero-carbon energy sources should take place in a fair and just manner. Renewable energy sources, including onshore and offshore wind power, can be a response to this challenge. Thanks to advancement in technology, these sources can provide access to affordable, clean and stable energy – says Janusz Gajowiecki, President of PWEA.
