Offshore wind developed in the Baltic Sea is a great opportunity for Poland. Its role in energy transition is apparent to representatives of the government, investors and enterprises that want to participate in supply chain for the first wind farms, who signed the Polish Offshore Wind Sector Deal to provide an impulse for the Polish economy.

Polish Wind Energy Association, being one of signatories of the Polish Offshore Wind Sector Deal, considers the document an important step towards effective and stable cooperation between the government and business during implementation of projects in the Polish Baltic Sea area.

The Sector Deal, signed by approximately 200 entities related to offshore wind, is a breakthrough for the development of the entire industry. The outlook and opportunities brought by offshore wind — an entirely new sector in our country — are vast. Such large investments will require the involvement of many industries and enterprises that can and should actively participate in the establishment of a supply chain for offshore wind farms in the Baltic Sea. Moreover, offshore wind perfectly matches the strategic documents of the Polish government and the EU standards for strong, sustainable climate-neutral economy. PWEA actively promoted the Deal. I am happy we succeeded, says Janusz Gajowiecki, President of the Polish Wind Energy Association.

The share of Polish entities in the development of a stable supply chain for offshore wind farms cannot be underestimated. For the first projects, the report developed by Instytut Jagielloński, PWEA and POWER estimates the contribution at 20-25%, which is a very good start. Cooperation with foreign suppliers and contractors that already have invaluable experience in similar projects and are present or are planning to enter the Polish market, creating additional jobs and training personnel, is crucial. Additionally, the construction and operation of wind farms requires the construction of dedicated offshore service vessels. This will contribute to more work for Polish shipyards,” lists Kamila Tarnacka — Vice-President of the Polish Wind Energy Association. “Sector Deal is a declaration of measures to be taken for an ambitious purpose, and I count that each signatory will honestly approach its implementation, she adds.
