At the beginning of 2019 PWEA decided to establish the Offshore Certification Workgroup.
Two organisational meetings were held to date to establish key directions of the works. The Workgroup is to develop a set of technical standards in the form of guidelines, recommendations or a set of good practices for offshore investments in the Polish maritime areas which are to be applicable in the entire European Union and be binding upon the current and future investors. The Workgroup’s works are participated by representatives of investors, consultants and offshore wind farm component manufacturers.
Topics discussed to date included inviting representatives of the insurance sector to cooperate as well as general assumptions to the key foreign certification systems, i.e. systems applicable in Germany, Denmark and the United Kingdom in the context of their applicability in Poland.
The next meeting will be held on 17 April. Participants will discuss the detailed assumptions to Polish offshore wind farm certification and its impact on the Polish building regulations. Furthermore, members of the Workgroup are to indicate examples of experiences/good practices of its members from the projects implemented by them in the context of the need to certify offshore wind farms.
