The Maritime University of Szczecin and the Marshal’s Office of the West Pomeranian Voivodeship toghether with Polish Wind Energy Association would like to invite you to take part in a visionary competition:

“Trends and development visions for offshore wind farms”

It is an international competition, and its aim is to stimulate the imagination based on knowledge and ingenuity. We expect to be presented even the most futuristic solutions in the use of technology and obtaining energy from offshore wind farms. Sky is the limit!

There will be cash and material prizes – the pool of cash prizes is 10 000 PLN, and the prizes in kind include, among others: electric scooter, tablet, smartphone, portable speakers and ecological gadgets.

The competition is open to secondary school students, students and doctoral students.

How to interpret the competition task? Participants must clearly present their views on the broadly understood vision of the development of offshore wind energy. You can look at the problem freely: from the point of view of logistics, construction, design of wind farms, through their operation and operation, to IT, ecological, mechanical problems, mechanics, automation, diagnostics or even broadly understood marine biology.

What are the opportunities and what are the threats of using offshore wind farms for energy production? Perhaps you have a groundbreaking thought on how to overcome the bad and take advantage of the advantages of generating energy from wind. If you have any thoughts on these topics – this contest is just for you!

How to take part in the competition?

Individually or as a team. Prepare a presentation (max. 10 slides or 10 minutes) and send it to the following address: kontakt@am.szczecin.pl by November 27th 2020.

The best 10 ideas will be qualified for the second stage – the stage of presenting the idea to the committee – 10 ideas. The presentations will take place in the form of a videoconference on 2-4 December 2020.  Students can choose the language of presentation (Polish or English), students and PhD students must prepare a presentation of the idea in English.

The content patronage over the competition was taken by scientists from the Maritime University, as well as Polish Wind Energy Association and representatives of companies related to the offshore wind energy industry.

The competition is held under the patronage of the Rector of AMS and the Marshal of the West Pomeranian Voivodeship.
